  1. Don’t forget to do an awareness check of your body

It is essential to start your morning with an awareness check, even before leaving your bed. Just lie still and gradually become aware of your own body. Look at your feet and then all the way up to your head. You need to acknowledge your body and check in with yourself. Through this process, you should be able to recognize all the parts of your body that feel still or uncomfortable. Now, as you proceed with your day, don’t forget to do little activities to loosen up the problem areas.

  2. The Mountain pose is extremely beneficial

Practicing the Mountain Pose everyday does wonders to your body. It plays an instrumental role in figuring out the imbalances in our posture that may be related to minor aches and pains. The pose is very easy to do, and can be done while sitting or standing since their alignment principles are the same.

To start, you may sit or stand with your legship distance apart. Make sure that your knees are directly over your ankles, and your shoulders are in line with your hips. Finally, take three deep breaths to bring you into the present moment. This posture can be practiced while brushing your teeth, washing the dishes, standing in line at the grocery store, eating, or sitting at work.

  3. Intentional breathing is the key

Take a moment to become aware of your breath. This plays an important role in calming our minds and bringing us into the present. You can get a sense of calm, and allow energy to fill you up with even 3 to 5 deep intentional breaths. In case you’re feeling anxious, frustrated, or are having trouble focusing, you should try these intentional breaths.

  4. Be kind to yourself

When you start practicing Yoga, don’t forget to listen to your body. Don’t be too harsh on yourself. If your body can’t take it, and asks you to ‘Stop’, then you better stop. One needs to understand that Yoga is not a competitive sport, so do only the amount that your body can handle. It’s important that you recognize your body’s limits and don’t push too hard.
